Donut Factory Is Asking How Many Ways You Can Make a Donut

A Nigerian donut brand is building a flavour universe that goes well beyond the usual glazed, chocolate, and filled favourites.

A donut can be glazed. Filled. Covered in chin chin. Built around zobo. Given a suya twist. Or turned into breakfast.

So how many ways can you actually make one?

Donut Factory is an emerging Nigerian donut brand built around that question. The idea is simple. Instead of treating donuts as a handful of familiar flavours, Donut Factory is building an expanding universe of combinations, collections and limited drops.

The first 30 variants are planned for the brand’s physical launch in March, 2027, but the bigger ambition is more interesting.

More than 250 flavours and variants over time.

And Donut Factory is already accepting orders while it prepares for the physical launch.

Building a donut universe

Most donut businesses settle around a handful of dependable flavours. Donut Factory is taking a different approach.

Its product system can combine different doughs, formats, fillings, coatings, textures, signatures and finishes to create new combinations without having to reinvent the entire product each time.

The first collection already moves across several territories.

  1. Factory Classics brings the familiar territory: Glazed, Chocolate Glaze, Vanilla Custard, Cookies & Cream, Salted Caramel and Red Velvet.
  2. Naija Flavours plays with familiar tastes in a different format: Chin Chin, Zobo, Malt, Groundnut, Coconut Candy, and Custard & Jam.
  3. Then there is Sweet + Strange: Suya Honey. Plantain Caramel. Brown Butter Banana. Coffee & Cream. Pepper Chocolate.
  4. And the Savoury Factory opens another door entirely, with ideas such as Egg & Sausage, Cheese & Pepper, Pepper Chicken and Suya Beef.

The point isn’t to make every donut unusual, but to make the menu capable of becoming unusual.

Nigerian flavours, without forcing the Nigerian angle

There is a temptation for a Nigerian food brand to make everything about being Nigerian. Donut Factory does not need to do that.

The more interesting opportunity is using familiar Nigerian flavours as part of a much bigger product vocabulary. Groundnut becomes groundnut cream with roasted peanut crunch. Chin chin becomes a texture. Plantain meets caramel. Zobo brings hibiscus and acidity. Suya gets paired with honey.

The Nigerian influence becomes part of the experimentation and not the entire personality of the brand – leaving room for classics, international flavours, strange combinations, and whatever the Factory comes up with next.

30 first. 250 plus eventually.

The first 30 variants are not meant to sit permanently on one menu. Some will become staples. Some can become seasonal releases. Some can appear as limited drops. Others may eventually disappear into The Archive, waiting for another reason to return.

The Factory Lab.

This is where the wider flavour universe is developed and tested before deciding what deserves a place in the actual menu. But with Donut Factory, experimentation does not have to come only from the people inside Donut Factory.

Spottr gathered that the team plans to let customers submit and order their own flavour ideas and if their ideas move orders, it gets its spot on the menu or, better still, a strange combination that starts as “I think this could work” could become a real limited drop.

But here is what makes this brand a Spottr favorite: flavor ideas that get on the menu earn the creator royalties for as long as it stays on the menu. The exact royalty amount will be revealed at a later date when the brand says it will start accepting flavor ideas.

The brand also plans to collaborate with chefs on selected flavours, bringing outside culinary thinking into the Factory and creating products that may never have come from the core menu.

That makes the 250-plus ambition more interesting. It is not simply a target for how many flavours the team can invent. It is about a growing catalogue shaped by the Factory, its customers, collaborators and the people who keep asking, “What if you tried this?”

A donut business with room to grow

The immediate journey is straightforward. Orders first. Physical launch in March 2027. Then more delivery, retail opportunities, collaborations and new releases as the brand grows.

  • A customer idea can become a limited drop.
  • A chef collaboration can become a seasonal release.
  • A flavour that people love can return from the Archive.
  • A familiar Nigerian flavour can become something completely new.
  • That is the interesting thing about Donut Factory.

The product system gives Donut Factory room to keep moving without constantly starting from scratch.

The founder

Donut Factory was started by Tobi Adebayo in Lagos, with the idea of turning one familiar product into a much larger playground for experimentation. The ambition is not to make the most donut but to keep finding new ways to make one.
